Research Council partner and a private sector company partner offered Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA). These (500) awards were targeted at outstanding students from the developing world, willing to undertake a PhD in the UK. The awards consisted of: full payment of the fees and the stipend.
The students had to be accepted for a PhD place at the University of Cambridge. They also had to be a citizen of one of the listed countries (Russia and all countries on the DAC List of ODA Recipients – available online). Moreover, they needed to have great academic achievements, with grades correspondent to a UK first class honours degree.
