Leopold Unger scholarship is awarded to four young journalists and students in any discipline who can show journalistic achievements. The recipients are chosen by the Scholarship’s Board. The awards are given during an official meeting.
The scholarship can take several forms: 1) a financial scholarship in the amount of PLN 5.000 for a young journalist (not older than 35 at application time), who can document professional publishing experience. The applicant must submit a summary proposal for a journalistic article. The article will be published on the web page of the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University or in another chosen medium. 2) 2 week internship at the editorial office of the Belgian daily “Le Soir” in Brussels; 3) 1 month internship at the editorial office of the Polish daily “Gazeta Wyborcza” in Warsaw; 4) 1 month internship at the editorial office of the Polish weekly “Polityka” in Warsaw; 5) a scholarship for 2-3 press service employees during the Economic Forum in Krynica. For the purposes of application, journalistic achievements are understood as 1) journalistic publications in various media; 2) working with student media; 3) working with internet media; 4) journalistic internships resulting in publication.
