University College Birmingham supports students interested in teaching as a profession with two Teaching Fellow Scholarships that are offered on a yearly basis. Only students who are enrolled in a full-time taught programme at UCB are considered. The scholarship is intended to ease the financial burden of the tuition fee by providing selected students with a reduction of half the cost of their applicable tuition fees. The financial support is available for up to one year and cannot be deferred to another year, even if the student is not successful in being selected for a student visa. In addition to the financial benefits of the scholarship the two successful applicants will also benefit from 20 hours of part-time teaching per week. This lasts for a maximum of 30 weeks. They will also receive a salary according to the standards established by the university.
Applicants must demonstrate a high level of competence in English and already be teachers from recognised partner universities. They must also have a strong desire to teach and be enrolled in a programme that is at least one year’s duration. The programme they are enrolled in must culminate in an academic award at higher education level.
