Canterbury Christ University aims to support one student with travel and study expenses per year. It offers an annual £1000.00 bursary* and a 100% tuition fee waiver**. The scholarship will be for a seeking asylum in the United Kingdom, dependent or a partner of one seeking asylum who may has been given Discretionary Leave to Remain or any other form to temporary status.
Spouse/civil partners have to been there on the date when the application of asylum was made. Step-children/children should have been aged below 18 on the date when the application of asylum was made.
*The bursary is paid directly for the bank account of the student over three instalments (Term 1 = £250; Term 2 = £250; Term 3 = £500). The bursary is not going to be paid for repeated years for study.
** waiver of fees is not going to be paid for repeat years of study.
Applicants must be offered conditional or unconditional place on an undergraduate programme in the university before he/she applies for the award. They must be virtue regarding their immigration status and to be unable for accessing statutory student support. They must be capable of providing evidence to prove that they sought asylum when they have arrived in United Kingdom in addition to proving that the asylum application should be under consideration through Home Office. Applicants who live at a distance with east commuting of Canterbury Christ Church University will have the priority.
