All scholarships available at Open Society Foundations have the same goal of promoting independent thinking and achieving tolerance on cross-cultural level. Currently candidates can apply to one of three available scholarships: Civil Society Leadership Awards, Civil Society Scholar Awards and Disability Rights Scholarship Program. All programs are createn in deep cooperation with universities, private founders, associated organizations and public agencies all around the world. Scholarships are mostly aimed to students and postgraduates from countires, that constant threats to human rights or are particularly challenged by repressive governance.
Every one from all three scholarships have different allowance criteria: Civil Society Leadership Awards is available for people from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Laos, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, Civil Society Scholar Awards is available for doctoral students and teachers from Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kosovo, Laos, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Serbia, Tajikistan, Tunisia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan, Disability Rights Scholarship Program is aimed to people from China; Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe; Mexico, Peru and Colombia that achieved excellent results with faculty of laws and shows a potential of being an activist in in the field of disability rights.
