General Description
The Japan Student Services Organization offers scholarships to students who aim to obtain Master's or doctoral degrees outside Japan. The amount of the scholarships will be up to 156000 Japanese yen (currently about 1110 euro; the exact quantity may vary depending on the chosen destination) monthly; they are awarded for 2 years in the case of Master´s degree students and 3 years for doctoral students.
Requirements
Applicants must be graduate students who hold the necessary qualifications to undertake Master´s degree or doctoral studies. They will be required to demonstrate a sufficient knowledge of the language in which the chosen degree is taught (in the case of English, it has to be equivalent to 600 points for the paper-based TOEFL, 250 for the computer-based TOEFL, 150 for the Internet-based TOEFL, and 7.0 points for the IELTS). Candidates must be nationals or permanent residents of Japan; the upper age limit is set at 32 years old for prospective Master´s degree students and 37 years old for doctoral candidates.
