General Description
The Government of Thailand has established the Royal Thai Government Scholarship Program to support Thai students enrolled on higher education programmes outside Thailand. Funding will be provided for 4 years in the case of Bachelor´s degree students, 2 years for Master´s degree students and 3 years for PhD students. Depending on the type of grant awarded, recipients may be contractually obliged to work for the Thai government upon returning from abroad.
Requirements
The degree programmes funded are required to be concurrent with the demands of Thai government agencies regarding skilled personnel. Applicants must have attained an average GPA of at least 3.50 for Bachelor degree and PhD students or at least 2.75 for Master´s degree students; their knowledge of the English language must reach a level of 550 points for the paper-based TOEFL, 213 points for the computer-based TOEFL, or 6.0 points for the IELTS. Candidates must be Thai nationals; the upper age limit is set at 40 years old for PhD students, 35 years old for Master´s degree students and 20 years old for Bachelor´s degree.
