The All Ireland Scholarships Trust is the sponsor of the All Ireland Scholarship Scheme. It was established to promote academic advancement among students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Successful students receive €6,750 a year plus continued support for the duration of their course, subject to satisfactory performance.
Students must follow the approved third-level courses of the programme and demonstrate excellence through participation in their school’s Leaving Certificate programme. It is mandatory that applicants are from non-fee paying schools, as recognised by the Department of Education and Skills. Automatic consideration is given to students who have successfully obtained a Grade D3 or higher in their Leaving Certificate results in approved subjects. Candidates cannot hold any other scholarship, award or bursary except for the student maintenance grant as funded by the Department of Education and Skills.
