The Dublin City University awards eligible candidates a PhD studentship in a research project: “Impact Caption for Everyone (ICE) – Reception Metrics for Creative Subtitling on TV”. It includes an annual stipend of approximately 16,000€. Tuition expenses are covered. This studentship can last up to four years.
This studentship is open for Irish and non-Irish students who have already obtained, or about to obtain, a first or upper second class honours degree in Ireland in an appropriate field of Linguistics, Translation or Psychology or an equivalent degree from outside Ireland. Excellent IT skills and familiarity with mixed method approaches are required. Candidates must be native or fluent Japanese speakers and preferably have a Masters level qualification. Students who have an experience in Pragmatics (cognitive or experimental), Audio-visual, Translation, or Corpus Linguistics, are favoured.
