General information on this scholarship
General Description
The Keliher Scholarship is awarded on the results of the Leaving Certification Examination. They are offered to students at University College Cork. One or more scholarships are awarded annually in order of merit. Eligible candidates must achieve Entrance Scholarship standard in the Leaving Certificate Examination. Successful students who also hold a Higher Education Grant will receive a €1,710. It is assessed on the students six best subjects taken at the first attempt at the same sitting of the Leaving Certificate.
Requirements
To be eligible candidates must have been born, or be the child of a parent who was born, in counties Cork or Limerick. They must also satisfy the minimum entry requirements of the National University of Ireland. And they attend the University College Cork. Applicants have to prove that without financial assistance he/she would be unable to continue with a university education. The maximum age is 20 years old, and the candidate must be Catholic. In addition, students must pursue a degree in one of the following Colleges: Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences; Business and Law; or Science, Engineering and Food Science.
