IBM administers a PhD Fellowship Award Program. The purpose is to honor exceptional PhD students who have an interest in solving problems important to IBM by pairing them with a mentor according to their technical interests. Fellows are paid according to the standards established at the home site of the fellowship. The fellowships include a stipend for one year. The fellowships may be renewed on a yearly basis for up to three years.
Students must be enrolled in a PhD program full-time. Students from outside of Europe must have completed ate least one year of study. Nomination by a faculty member is necessary in order to be eligible. Students from US-embargoed countries are not eligible. Preference is given to students who have previously completed an IBM internship or otherwise worked with the company. Nominations of women and minorities are encouraged.
