AstraZeneca Merit Award

You receive a one-off prize of 5,000 EUR to fund the final stage of your medical training abroad. The money supports an Erasmus period at a European university, where you complete clinical and scientific training for at least four months. Erasmus is the EU programme that funds study stays abroad. The award goes to the top-performing 6th-year student of the Integrated Master in Medicine. It is given once a year by NOVA Medical School (NMS|FCM), Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, together with the AstraZeneca Foundation.

Who can apply

• Where you study: You are enrolled at NOVA Medical School in Lisbon.
• Study phase: You are in the 6th year of the integrated Master’s programme in Medicine.
• Grades: On the Portuguese grading scale, your average mark is at least 15 out of 20.
• Where you go: You will spend at least four months at a European university participating in the Erasmus programme.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, provided they are enrolled at the school.

How to apply

Applications are submitted via the Office for International Mobility at NOVA Medical School as part of the Erasmus application process. The Director of the university decides once a year on the award of the prize, based on the relevant selection criteria.
