The Hans-Böckler Foundation is the student assistance body of the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) and is one of twelve nationwide bodies offering assistance to gifted students. With the Boeckler-Aktion initiative accepts stipend applications from school students who have passed their university entrance exam (Hochschulzugang) or are en route to achieving their Abitur, Fachabitur or their advanced technical university entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife). The stipend is worth 597 Euros per month, with an additional 150 Euros per month given as book money. Contributions to health and long term care insurance are also awarded. The stipend is awarded until the end of the applicant's course of study.
The support is aimed at school students who have not yet begun studying. There should be no more than 12 months between receipt of the applicant's certificate of access to higher education (Studienberechtigung) and the beginning of their studies. Application may only be submitted by those entitled to the highest rate of support according to BAföG (German Federal Law on Support in Education). Additionally, applicants must have a good school record. It is also expected that they have upheld volutnary commitments in the past or are prepared to do so in the future. There is no age limit.
