The Klaus-Murmann programme of the Foundation of the German Economy is one of the twelve nation-wide scholarship programmes. German students and educational residents (pursuant to §8 of BaföG) are encouraged to apply. The package includes a monthly cash grant of maximum 597 EUR. In addition, scholarship holders receive 300 EUR for books per month regardless of parental income. The scholarship can be obtained at the longest until the end of the normal period of study.
German students and educational residents of all disciplines can apply. Application may be made at any time of the study. At the time of application, candidates should still have at least four terms of remaining studies. An application just before graduation is excluded. For a successful application, above-average school and academic performance is required. In addition, community involvement (e.g. committee work at the college, participation in clubs or in a party, volunteering at a church or in social institutions) must have been provided. The Foundation of the German Economy also attaches importance to the determination of the candidate in terms of his/her professional career.
