The Hanns Siedel Foundation, which has close ties with the Christian Social Union (CSU), is one of twelve German support foundations for gifted students and supports doctoral students at German universities. The recipient of the support gets 1,050 Euros per month in addition to a research grant of 100 Euros per month. The support is usually paid out for a duration of 24 months but can be extended up to twice, each time for a period of six months.
Doctoral students of all disciplines are eligible to appply. To receive the assistance, students must have maintained an above-average study and examination record. Evidence that the student has upheld prior sociopolitical commitments (in the field of social cooperation, open/denominational youth work or party-political experience) is required. A character reference that aligns with the values of the CSU must also be submitted.
