The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is one of twelve German student support foundations offering support to gifted students. It has links to the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The Foundation awards a stipend to support foreign students at German universities. The recipient of the stipend gets a maximum of 597 Euros per month, calculated according to the German Federal Law on Support in Education (BAföG). An additional 150 Euros per month is paid out as book money irrespective of the parents' income. After a successfully completed probationary year, the stipend may continue to be received for the maximum duration of eligibility as determined by the German Federal Law on Support in Education (BAföG).
Foreign students from all disciplines are eligible to apply. An application may be submitted at any point within a student's programme of study. Applicants must possess an above-average academic record (school and university). Demonstration of an active commitment to political, community-based or social causes is required. The personal suitability of the applicant will be decisive in determining their success. Applicants must also demonstrate a willingness to return to their country of origin after concluding their studies.
