The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is one of twelve German student support foundations offering support to gifted students. It has links to the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The Foundation awards a stipend to support German students and educational residents/Bildungsinlaender, who will be supported in accordance with §8 BAföG (German Federal Law on Support in Education). Recipients get a maximum of 597 Euros per month (calculated according to BAföG (German Federal Law on Support in Education)). Recipients also get an additonal 300 Euros per month in book money irrespective of their parents' income. After a successfully completed probationary year, the stipend may continue to be received for the maximum duration of eligibility as determined by BAföG.
Eligible to apply are German students and educational residents (Bildungsinlaender) in all disciplines. Students must already have completed at least one semester before applying and must have at least 4 semesters left. A Master's degree being commenced immediately after graduation from a Bachelor's may be accounted for in this calculation. Applicants must have maintained an above-average academic record throughout their school and university career. Additionally, the student is required to have demonstrated prior commitment to political, community-based or social causes. The personal suitability of the applicant will be decisive in determining their success.
