The European Union, through the Erasmus Mundus programme, offers mobility and intercultural opportunities to European and Brazilian undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students, as well as university staff. Each year, 177 scholarships are available in the fields of education, teacher training, engineering and technology. European study opportunities are also created for Brazilian students that are in vulnerable situations for social and political reasons. All successful applicants will receive a monthly allowance to cover living costs in the host country, a two-way flight ticket, and insurance valid for the entire mobility period in Europe or Brazil. Students are also exempted from the payment of tuition fees. Allowances vary from 1,000 to 2,500 euros per month depending on the length and type of mobility.
To reinforce cooperation between the two regions, Brazilian applicants can only apply to European universities and European applicants to Brazilian universities. Applications must either hold an eligible European country's nationality or Brazilian nationality. Applicants should also have sufficient knowledge of one of the languages spoken in their host country.
