The Scholarship is a joint initiative of the Sparkasse Lower Saxony and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Arts. This scholarship supports visual artists living in Lower Saxony. Aim of the program is to enable students to live and study in New York for 12 months. Outstanding artistic characters are supported with a monthly installment of 1.100€ for the whole duration of the trip. In addition the travel expenses are covered, housing is provided and an atelier assigned to the winner of this award. After the trip to New York the student can exhibit his or her art in 2 Lower Saxony Art Clubs, which are also financed by the sponsor of the scholarship. The scholarship strives to advance the artists further development.
Entitled are artists having their primary place of residency or workplace in Lower Saxony. Only extraordinary artistic characters are supported. The applicants must not be older than 40 years (45 year for severely disabled applicants). Upon the beginning of the trip. An exception can be made if the artists training has not been completed for longer than 5 years.
